In no other generation have Christians needed good role models of faith and endurance like they need today. The Christian faith is undergoing much persecution, ridicule and the love of many who once loved the Lord is now growing cold.
How will today’s Christian endure the testing of his faith so that he may inherit the promises of God?
The Bible says it is by studying and following the faith of those who have already endured to the end and received the promises of God.
Hebrews 6:12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
The Lord knows our need for good role models and has provided for us through the record of those who are in the Bible. The faith of the people in the Bible is to be studied and imitated. The scriptures says we are to do this so that we do not become slothful (spiritually dull and indifferent) but follow in their footsteps so that we too may receive the things God has promised us in our day.
Hebrews Chapter 11 is commonly known for its list of “HEROS OF FAITH”. In it are the names of men such as Noah and Abraham who obeyed God in spite of the enormous challenges they faced. The women are also not left out. The Bible specifically mentions Sarah and Rahab who also operated by faith. It also reveals other women who by faith received their dead back to life.
This book has been written in obedience to the command to learn from those who have inherited the promises of God. This material endeavours to study the life and faith of one such woman who through her faith and endurance inherited the promises of God. That woman’s name is MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS.
The name of Mary; the Mother of Jesus is known by many people world over. However, what do we know about her life and faith? What about her life and faith can we learn and imitate as saints today? In what ways can we follow in her footsteps as we endeavour to walk with God and inherit the promises he has for us? What does Mary teach us as saints today through her life and faith?
