Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Humphrey Njoroge served for thirty nine years in the defence forces of Kenya. He received his cadet training at Lanet (K) and Mons (UK), and was commissioned on 10 February, 1967.
He is a 1989 graduate of the Army War College (USA). He experienced the Shifta and Ogaden wars.
He has extensive command, staff and training experience at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. He served as the Deputy Commander of the Kenya Army, Commandant of the Defence Staff College (DSC) of Kenya, ands as Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) of Kenya.
He is currently the chair of the Kenya Forest Growers Association, and is a Director of Three Legs Consortium, a think tank in Nairobi on grand strategy and related issues. He is co-editor of Grand Strategy in Kenya, Vol. 1: Concepts, Context, Process and Ethics [2019].
