Description
This true story of Solomon Gitau demonstrates the power of God in overcoming any and all adversity. Solomon’s heart-rending story takes the reader on a journey through his privileged but troubled upbringing, to his seemingly “harmless experiments” with alcohol as a teenager, and his eventual addiction. Then through the denial and blame games that followed, before the devastating consequences of alcoholism rendered him homeless at 31 years of age.
Forced to live in the streets of Nairobi as a homeless alcoholic, he experiences first hand the indignities and inhumane conditions of those living there. Treated like scum and robbed of all human dignity, he seeks ways to survive and adjust to this situation, until in utter desperation, he attempts suicide. His attempt fails, and convinced that he is the epitome of failure, Solomon finally resigns to his fate, looses the will to live and awaits death in whatever form it will eventually come. It is in these dark and daunting circumstances that God pulls him out and restores him, proving that with God, ALL things are possible.
Solomon is now the team leader at GLC – a Christian organization that uses the Word of God to Rescue and Rehabilitate adult alcoholic men living in the streets.
